Metrick, a 20-year old right-hander, excelled during the 2016 season for the Miners working exclusively out of the bullpen. During Prospect League regular season play last summer, he appeared in 21 games and posted a stingy 1.62 earned run average for 33.1 innings of work that showed 20 strikeouts versus 12 walks on the campaign. His biggest moment came in the postseason on August 13, when he struck out eight hitters in three innings of work in game two of the Prospect League championship series in Quincy, IL that clinched the league title for the Miners. Prior to joining the Miners last year for the 2016 Prospect League season, he posted a 3-0 record in 22 collegiate games for the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats while also leading the Mountain East Conference in saves with eleven.
