Colby Johnson is the hometown kid joining the West Virginia Miners this season. Colby is from Lewisburg, West Virginia and attended Greenbrier East High School.
Colby decided to stay in-state to go to college as he attends the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia. Colby just wrapped up his freshman campaign this past spring for the Golden Eagle. This year, as a true freshman, Colby hit for a batting average of .274, while scoring 30 runs and knocking in 22. Colby is also very quick on his feet as he had 3 doubles and 4 triples while swiping 13 bases along the way.
At Greenbrier East High School, Colby was one of the leaders on the team. In his 2015 campaign, junior year, Colby was an Honorable Mention all-state selection, while helping his team finish 3rd in the state tournament. Colby was also a part of the middle school leagues that go on at Linda K. Epling Stadium and is definitely familiar with the ballpark.
