Edwin Bonilla just finished his first season at Tennessee Wesleyan University. Edwin is one of two members of the Bulldogs roster to be joining the Miners as he will join his teammate Dan Ward in West Virginia for the 2017 summer season. Tennessee Wesleyan University is a NAIA team and part of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC)
This past year, Edwin hit for a batting average of .358, while knocking in 59 runs and scoring 59 himself. Now, don’t let Edwin’s 5’ 9’’ 180-pound frame fool you as this past year, Edwin slugged 9 doubles and 8 home runs on his way to a slugging percentage of .510. Edwin’s first season was definitely an impressive one as he earned Second-Team All-Conference honors for the AAC.
Before heading to Tennessee Wesleyan University, Edwin first started his collegiate career at Seminole State College. In his final season at Seminole State, he hit for a batting average of .263, with 26 runs, 24 RBI, and 4 home runs. During Edwin’s two year stint with Seminole State, he played with John Hagan, who will also join the West Virginia Miners 2017 roster this summer.
