Jeffrey Crisan

  • Catcher Jeffrey Crisan of Lipscomb University has signed his contract to play for the West Virginia Miners during the 2017 Prospect League season this upcoming summer. His contract signing was announced by the Miners on the afternoon of March 28 and is the 21st player name to be unveiled by the Beckley, WV based team that will be part of their 28-man roster when the season opens.

Jeffrey is a 5-11, 225 pound junior who played during the spring of 2017 for Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. The school is a member of the NCAA Division I nine-team Atlantic Sun Conference. The resident of Apopka, FL appeared in nine of the Bisons’ first 16 games this year and was hitting .267 (8-for-30) including two doubles and two RBI over that span. This is on the heels of a 2016 season that saw him hit .270 (20-for-74) and included four multi-hit games.

His first two seasons (2015 and 2016) behind the plate at Lipscomb allowed him to demonstrate his defensive prowess in 48 games by recording 286 putouts and 49 assists while committing only three errors over the two-year span. Also, his combined totals for the 2015 and 2016 campaigns saw him throw out 16 potential basestealers in 45 attempts, a .356 success ratio.
